pdfff FAQ

Short answers about writing terminal notes with screenshots and saving them as editable PDFs.

Is pdfff a Nano replacement?

pdfff is inspired by Nano’s simple file-oriented terminal workflow, but its purpose is to keep text and images together in an editable PDF rather than to edit arbitrary text files.

Can I paste images into pdfff?

On macOS, pdfff can paste screenshots and copied PNG/JPEG files from Finder. Direct image clipboard pasting is currently macOS-only.

Does pdfff work on Linux?

pdfff has an x86_64 Linux release for the core CLI/editor. The current direct image clipboard workflow is documented for macOS only.

Can I reopen a saved document?

Yes. Run pdfff with the same PDF path to reopen a document created by pdfff.

Does pdfff edit any PDF?

No. pdfff reopens and edits documents it created; it does not edit arbitrary PDFs.
